Just as Disney is the king of the entertainment industry, Disneyland can be considered one of the entertainment capitals of the world. Each year, millions of tourists travel to Anaheim, California to visit the “Happiest Place on Earth”. As someone who is lucky enough to live only an hour or two away from Disneyland, I have had several opportunities to travel there and experience it for myself. In this blog post, I’ll go over Disneyland California’s various lands and what attractions make the park so memorable to so many people.

Here’s a map for reference: FY24 DL Winter 1.08.24 to 4.04.24.pdf

MAIN STREET, U.S.A.

The entry point into Disneyland and the hub leading to the park’s other areas. Main Street, U.S.A. does not feature any regular attractions but rather puts focuses on the various horse carriages and shops scattered throughout. A statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse sits as the centerpiece of the park, reminding visitors of the man and the mouse who helped made this all possible,

JUNGLE CRUISE

Located in Adventureland, to the west of Main Street, sits the Jungle Cruise. This river ride has guests sitting in a boat touring the waters of the Jungle, meeting animatronic animals along the way. Each boat has its own commenter providing insight and humor on their surroundings.

HAUNTED MANSION

This supposedly spooky attraction puts guests in the middle of the Haunted Mountain, crawling ghosts throughout its halls. Brave visitors must sit tight in the Doom Buggy if they wish to survive the trails of the antiquated Mansion.

TIANA’S BAYOU ADVENTURE

Originally known as Splash Mountain, this iconic water ride was recently revamped to resemble the setting of Disney’s “Princess and the Frog”. The new version of this attraction features music and guest sightings of characters from the original movie, but the big drop at the end is still present as the grand finale.

MICKEY’S TOONTOWN

In the back of Disneyland sits Toontown, the home of Mickey Mouse and his group of equally loveable pals. Toontown is somewhat light on attractions, but children will have a fun time meeting Mickey and friends in their bright, cartoony houses.

BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN RAILROAD

One of Disneyland’s few roller coasters, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad places riders in the seat of a haunted train that zips and zooms through dark caves. The fossil decorations add to the atmosphere of the ride, but the relatively stable nature of the roller coaster allows for a nice view of Frontierland.

SPACE MOUNTAIN

Placed in the lower corner of Tomorrowland sits Space Mountain, the final frontier of Disneyland’s thrill rides. The indoor roller coaster allows for an experience that resembles a journey through space, riding a metallic rocket ship across the cosmos and under the flashing lights.

SLEEPING BEAUTY’S CASTLE

The heart of Disneyland is Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. The majestic palace watches over visitors from across the park and is able to be explored, touring guests within a storybook style walkthrough. At night, fireworks are set off above the castle as a final spectacle of the day and a celebration of Disney’s legacy.

I hope this blog post is able to serve as an introduction to the main attractions that Disneyland has to offer. This park holds a special place in the hearts of many visitors and is a must see for those in the Anaheim area (assuming they have the money needed for the day).
